The Court made it very clear that it preferred continious administration as evidence of owneership rights against any treaty based arguements (that were also put forward by Malaysia).

Knowing this and the fact that Singapore and its predecessor, the British Empire, had continiously administered Pedra Branca for some 150 years, would make it obvious to any lawyer (even from a local university) that Malaysia was never likely to win.

Mathias has put forward a conspiracy theory that he then goes on to say does not exist...you cannot believe a theory he does not even have the guts to say is right. It is pure rubbish, to put it politely.

Middle rock will be useful if someone wants to "extract" money from the Malaysian purse by putting forward a harebrained scheme to carry out R & D, etc, etc. We can see seeds of that in some of the comments coming from the "win-win" crowd. Then the real losers will be rakyat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19741162.post-50382632229917558622008-05-27T23:14:00.000+08:002008-05-27T23:14:00.000+08:00Saudara SV, nobody wins not Malaysia not Singapore...Saudara SV, nobody wins not Malaysia not Singapore. Singapore won Batu Putih but their real strategic goal was to win Batu Putih together with Middle ledge and south Ledge. These three rocks in the hands of Singapore can clearly define its new boundaries and would allow singapore to make a bigger island by reclamation within the boundaries produced by the three rocks if she chooses to do so.

By getting only Batu Putih, Singapore failed in its strategic goal and is comforted to just owning and maintaining the Horsburg lighthouse which she has been doing for ages anyway.

Well, Malaysia did win the Middle Ledge and now Singapore's Batu Putih is located between the Malaysian Mainland and Middle ledge. Kind of Catch 22 situation isn't it and Singapore cannot simply do anything unilaterally around these rocks like they used to. So Singapura menang tang mana tu?eddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14778796377342661967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19741162.post-30858617994768170022008-05-27T08:54:00.000+08:002008-05-27T08:54:00.000+08:00HIDUP TEMASEK!!!!HIDUP TEMASEK!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19741162.post-15593215636522804542008-05-26T11:22:00.000+08:002008-05-26T11:22:00.000+08:00A very good and enlightening post for us layman.
