Wikipedia described Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein as "a leading International Islamic Philosopher, Scholar and author, specialising in world politics, economy, eschatology, modern socio-economic/political issues and expert on international affairs."
His latest biography from his website is below:
"He was born in the Caribbean island of Trinidad in 1942 from parents whose ancestors had migrated from India as indentured labourers. He studied Islam, Philosophy and International Relations at several universities and institutions of higher learning. Among them are al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, the Institute of International Relations of the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, the University of Karachi in Pakistan, the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies in Karachi, Pakistan, and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
He worked for several years as a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
He lived in New York for ten years during which time he served as the Director of Islamic Studies for the Joint Committee of Muslim Organizations of Greater New York. He lectured on Islam in several American and Canadian universities, colleges, churches, synagogues, prisons, community halls, etc. He also participated in many inter-faith dialogues with Christian and Jewish scholars while representing Islam in USA. He was the Imam, for sometime, at Masjid Dar al-Qur'an in Long Island, New York. He also led the weekly Juma'ah prayers and delivered the sermon at the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan once a month for ten years continuously.
He is a former Principal of the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies in Karachi, Pakistan, Director of Research of the World Muslim Congress in Karachi, Pakistan, Director of the Islamic Institute for Education and Research in Miami, Florida, and Director of D'awah for Tanzeem-e-Islami of North America.
He has traveled continuously and extensively around the world on Islamic lecture-tours since graduating from the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies in 1971 at age 29. And he has also written more than a dozen books on Islam that have invariably been received with public respect. Indeed, 'Jerusalem in the Qur'an - An Islamic View of the Destiny of Jerusalem' has become a best seller and has been translated and published in several languages."
Sheikh Imran is not an unfamiliar face in Malaysia and oftenly visit to give talks for almost the past 10 years, particularly after the 9-11 incident.
His unique education and experiance in Islamic theology and International Relation provides for interesting perspective on current affair, particularly affecting the Muslim world. He has written and spoken extensively on Islamic theological and international relation perspective on the event leading to the 'end of the world'. 'Jerusalem in the Quran' provided interesting interpretation of the Quran and Hadith with international relation perspective on trend in current affairs and forecast of upcoming event.
Sheikh Imran is a proponent for the revival of the Khalifah, riba-free economy, establishment of insulated rural Islamic 'commune', etc. to face up to the threat of globalisation on Islam. Sheikh Imran is not without his critique. For opposing view to Shiekh Imran, read blogger Aizuddin Danian and Muslim Village Forum.
Nevertheless, his view and foresight in the prediction of world event is not only unique but have been proven right. Will Iran be invaded by the US? What is the emergene of India and China as new upcoming economic power have on world politics? Off course, does all these trend have its theological justification?
Come tomorrow ....

Advice:
You changed Towra and Injil but you will never succeed changing the Quraan insha Allah. Alhamdu Lilah the light of Quraan will stay on untill the Judgement Day - this is a Rahma from Allah subhanu watacaallaa. The Quraan is protected by Allah in the hearts of thousands of Mumins. Dont Waste your time. I know you got plenty of other ways to could create mischeif in the world.
It's not Islam that need reforming you wolf in sheeps clothing. Go back to Tel Aviv and change another one of Sharons diapers.
ReplyDeleteIf only your blindness allowed you to see that lies in store for you.
Jerusalem in the Quran is a good book. I feel I can question some conclusions the good Sheikh says, but I can't dispute his main thesis.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, we see virtually eye to eye on most of the content.
