Curtain slowly closing on Anwar, PAS should seek a backstage exit

PAS victory at the Kuala Terengganu by-election managed to save Anwar the embarrassment from his futile attempt to psyche MPs to crossover to Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

September 16th crossover didn’t materialise. His reputation shattered but he could salvage some blame on Abdullah Badawi and Pengiran Pendikar Amin Mulia. The former for refusing to meet and discuss power handover. The latter for turning down a motion for a vote of no confidence at the Dewan Rakyat.

As soon as he was about to get into Act II of his crossover drama, one event after another befall on him. The walls surrounding Anwar are beginning to crumble. He is losing his plot. Many turn of events will effect badly on his political plan.

The curtain is slowly closing on Anwar.

His PR coalition lost the Perak state Government.

Two by-election elections are on the card. But the disappearance of independent turned PKR assemblyman for Bukit Selambau, Arumugam remains a mystery. It is now out in the open that 'spiderman' had webbed another nest without the legally required marriage license.

The other being Parliamentary seat of Bukit Gantang following the death of PAS Roslan Shaharum, a day after PR lost the state Government.

The defiant emotional reaction and derhaka spectacle against the Sultan by former Menteri Besar Nizar, former Exco members, Karpal Singh and supporters, and abuse of power by the DUN Speaker, Sivakumar will only lead to an eventual erosion of confidence by the public.

Anwar left the scene immediately for a conference in Qatar after announcing PR will not sue the Sultan.

Karpal Singh had to be left isolated by both PR and DAP for fear the insistence to sue the Sultan will have a damaging effect from Malay voters. A rejection of Karpal's suit will be nevertheless be political capital.

Anwar must be hoping the lawsuit against Zambery, though expected to be thrown out, could buy him more political rhetorics.

In the meanwhile, there are reports made against Sivakumar with the police, and SPRM. He violated the law and Karpal Singh concurred.

On his return, the distribution of nude pictures of Bukit Lanjan Selangor Assemblymen, Elizabeth Wong erupted.

The said pictures strangely leaked only to The Sun and Malay Mail. None of the explicit pictures are in circulation on the Blogosphere.

Anwar tried to lay blame on Barisan Nasional and some party members was making accusation at Khir Toyo for requesting Eli’s resignation. That was a cheap shot.

Eli Wong has the sympathy of many and is a victim. Her right to privacy was infringed on. But who victimised her?

While all eyes are looking and police are in search of former boyfriend Helmi Malek, many did not twitch an eyebrow to notice the attempt to unfold a drama by Anwar.

The day the news broke in Malay Mail on Monday, Eli Wong made a statement insisting to fight on. She is staying. By next day Tuesday, she changed her mind to offer her resignation.

Anwar and Khalid insist she not do so and Khalid suggested she take leave. Eli Wong is expected to return on February 27th and a decision on her offer for resignation will be announced.

When asked why the delay, Anwar answered it is too soon to decide. The delay in decision seemed a ploy for Anwar to take a breather, maybe to throughly inveestigate but most likely to script a story.

Today, it is reported Eli Wong insisted it is final on her part. She was reported saying it is to avoid further information of her private life being further explored.

It seemed beyond the public eyes is an internal PKR problem looming. Words in the canteen hall of Parliament are that of a conspiracy by Azmin Ali to takeover the Selangor Menteri Besar post from Khalid Ibrahim.

Eli Wong, as told by one source, is a collateral damage in Azmin’s attempt to embarrass Khalid.

It is said that Helmi is not Azmin’s cameraman nor is Gwo Burne, just kidding. There is another Malay name that cropped up. One PKR party worker at a service centre with a name ending also with the syllable 'mi'.

Did Eli Wong have another Malay boyfriend after Helmi? That is none of our business and she is a single lady. She is seen by many in the company of a Singapore-based academician cum PKR supporter. Another is a writer son to a PKR lawyer. But it’s her life!

Azmin, known to many is a blue-eyed boy of Anwar. The other, Ezam left to rejoin UMNO after being disfavoured by Anwar.

Did Anwar require that extra time from Eli Wong to handle this delicate situation between his blue-eye boy Azmin and financial supporter Khalid? Anwar’s office is at Khalid’s old PJ Section 16 bungalow.

Another twist to the Eli Wong affair is Tian Chua who release an outburst at an Agendadaily reporter asking of his relation with Eli Wong.

As one SMS from one Chinese PKR member reads, Tian Chua recently broke off from his Hong Kong fiance, Mable Au, an activist with the Asian Women Committee based in Bangkok.

These activists dominating PKR have been getting on the nerve of many of its loyal members. The reformasi supporters of 2000 are also defecting pissed from the presence of many former corporate players and recent newcomers.

To salvage the present situation, Anwar put up a drama in Parliament on Wednesday.

He revealed PKR Kulim Assemblyman, Lim Soo Nee cooperated with ACA to nab on former Kedah MB, Mahadzir Khalid attempting to offer bribe to defect. However, he claimed ACA did not make a case out of it. Det Khalid admitted meeting Lim but disclaim any bribe offer.

That was not convincing enough for the increasing number of Anwar skeptics. Khalid tried to create a distraction to announce suing Khir Toyo for defamation for revealing impropriety in his car maintenance claims and cattle korban. Earlier Brader Anwar Bin Ibrahim exposed claimed excessive claims by former BN Exco members and ADUNs.

If that was not convincing enough as distraction, Anwar made a police report on Gani Patail and Musa Hasan today.

But a bomb went off today.

SPRM, the new corruption agency, a proposal supported loudly by Pakatan Rakyat in parliament at the last sitting, announced there are sufficient document to charge Selangor MB, Khalid Ibrahim. Khalid's response is his usual stutter that is a copycat of Anwar's diversion.

What will Anwar think of next?

He knows very well if it is not handled well, the derhaka impression could spillover to the two by-elections of Bukit Selambau and Bukit Gantang. SPR announced if Eli Wong resigns soon, the Bukit Lanjan by-election will be held on the same day on April 7th.

Is there sufficient PKR resource and manpower to spread around?

To be or not to be. That is the question for Anwar.

Still hanging is his sodomy case with Saiful believed widely to be a sure done deal when trial begins. He is just playing time by picking fault on the case management issues.

Pondering over the mind of many is the scene of PAS Muslimah’s presence in support and hugging her during Eli Wong's press conference. Many conservatives in Pas would raising their eyebrow over this sight of comradeship with one deemed as of suspicious morality.

How much longer could PAS tolerate PKR deviating them from their Islamic state objective? In fact, a coalition with UMNO, which is in need for political survival, would further their Islamic state cause than being in coalition with DAP and cocophonic PKR?

Should PAS continue to defend and share its resources and machinery with a party increasingly building a new reputation as appropriately described by another acronym to PKR, Parti Kelentong Rakyat?

The vulgar versions best saved.

A PAS crossover should not be discounted. Lets not forget that Pak Lah had a Nik Aziz described Muqabalah with PAS leaders. They have a backstage exit if party members agree.

If that were to happen, an UMNO-PAS truce or coalition to many Malays is the next best thing to the British banned Malay Nationalist Party’s Melayu Raya vision.

This will realise the much said notion that Malays will unite when their position is challenged. When Malay unite, it provides political stability to the country.

PKR was never the political force that deserving of the attention it gets. PKR uses its status as an agent provocateur to erode traditional BN support base. The real powers in the opposition is PAS.

Anwar is not the opposition leader, TG Hadi is and by deflecting attention away from effectively fighting PAS, UMNO will continue to get its ass kicked, irregardless of the number of sex partners PKR assemblyman and assemblywomen have.

  14. Voice, you are right unless PAS still "terdodoi" in whatever Anwar has to say.

If you look around the blog, PKR is still acting on the belief that they have the rakyat's total support based on PRU12. Their comments were still that kiasu, gungho and hollier-than-thou.

PAS should realize that due to that attitude, so many things had turned around and even back-fired. I am one of those who cast a protest vote last time and I was amused but far from impressed. I am beginning to question my own IQ for voting creatures like Gwo Burne.

PAS should take a step back and "muhassabah." Where are they going? How long can you put back your perjuangan Islam and Melayu just to be politically correct? How long can you weep along EW knowing that what she practiced was against your belief/religion? How long can you compromise halal and haram just so that you will not incur the wrath of Karpal, LKS or even Anwar?

By now, PAS should learn that to lie down on the road with a paletinian flag, going against your own mufti, suing you Sultan for not agreeing with you and telling the world that its ok to have premarital sex as long its in your own bedroom are not cool, not Malay, not Malaysian and not even Islamic. Even if you are so scared to say that those things were wrong, atleast you should not say that it is right/acceptable.

Come on PAS. You are supposed to be Muslim first and Politician later! I still remember what Ex-Perlis Mufti said, you should use politic to protect/edvance your religion but not the other way around (not exact words).

    Assalamualaikum.

    4) Dulu UMNO pernah dituduh memusuhi ulamak. Kini DS Harussani pulak 'diterajang' olah PAS!!

    5) Banyak lagi contoh yg teman lihat PAS ni adalah semata-mata sebuah parti politik seperti UMNO.

    6) Cuma PAS kena akur yg UMNO ada 27 DUN berbanding 6 yg dia ada di Perak!!

    7) Kalau PAS terima tawaran join UMNO lepas PR12 dulu, Yeop Nizar tentu masih jadi MB sekarang.

    Melayu Raya pun Melayu Rayalah.

KAMI YANG BERADA DI MUKTAMAR MISG DI PEORIA CONVENTION CENTER DISEMBER 1986 LALU MASIH MENUNGGU JANJI INI.

UMNO DAN PAS BERSATULAH DEMI AGAMA BANGSA DAN NEGARA.

  18. Excuse me while I handle this pest first: Parpu Kari, friend - COPY-LAH! Benda gini pun boleh buat kecoh...

Have to hand it to you, Pinky - this post is provocative enough to have extracted all those angry responses Haha! When you get ad hominem attacks, that's a sure sign you've hit something.

Have to learn from you - I'm probably just too nice and too considerate to write a political blog heheh!

Well, there are a few things mentioned by straycat's strut and Wenger J Khairy that are quite true. I was a loyal PAS supporter since 1983, and had also lent support to Semangat 46 and Keadilan from 1999. Had NEVER voted for BN. Was like this until October last year.

What happened? The `bad influence' of Sakmongkol AK47 and KijangMas especially. Plus Jebat Must Die, My Anger and you too, Pinky.

The issue in Perak was the last straw. I don't like Umno, but since PAS isn't defending the Malays and the sultans, then I've taken leave of it. I hope PAS will pull out of Pakatan - PKR depends on it for the numbers, especially in Kelantan and Kedah.

When Malays are threatened, there won't be peace for EVERYONE. Much as I dislike it, a strong Umno is important for everybody. "Death To Umno", as one chap hopes? No dude - to YOU if you try it.

Salam Voicey, Mat Cendana and all,

Its good to know that there is overwhelming consensus amongst both PAS and UMNO supporters that both bury their minor dfferences (the means to and end of a struggle as opposed to the struggle itself) and join together. I more or less wished that much in some of my posting.

But lets go a bit deeper. We know that TG Hadi said that they prefer Pak Lah and right now, even though PAS grassroots may be disenchanted with DS Nizar "patik mohon derhaka" stunt, they are sure ain't gonna accept the leadership of DS Najib, whom many feel was the biggest 'dalang' in this episode.

Furthermore, the entire Altantuya, helicopter and submarine episode has made some mud stick to the picture of the virtuos, mongamous, clean and 'corrupt-free' PM2B, making it political suicide for the PAS leadership to try and sell a merger with UMNO with PM2B being the ultimate power.

So now the question to all 'anti' Pak Lahs and 'anti KJs; If political reconciliation amongst the 2 biggest Malay parties necessitates that Pak Lah & KJ stay on, will you support it?

  21. Wenger,

Cute. But it is still an emphatic NO.

Simply because the end game of that gameplan, if it coudl remotely work, will not have Pak Lah around.

I believe in that masterplan Khairy will be rested for 5 years. Be a house husband to see Jibrael grow up and strictly do his Rembau bit.

For that plan to work, did you ever ponder. What make you think Pak Lah can handle PAS, if he can't even handle Another Brick in the Wall?

Allow me some leeway to overrate myself. Someone just praised me above former NSTP GEIC Kadir Jasin.

Sorry, sorry Heheh! I had thought your comments were merely to `kacau' A voice here. Maaf zahir batin... Selamat Hari Maulidur Rasul 9 March.

Haa, sorry-sorry jugak; now I'm going to confront you for the wrongs that you have done towards me:

    "KITA MESTI BERADAB..."

Okay, I agree with this one. BUT you had already asked, and since Pinky didn't object, that should be enough to mean consent. There's no need to keep badgering him with the same thing - and adding to the RSS feed for comments.

And talking about "beradap"; Wah, seronok betul engko mengata kat aku, ye. Like this one:

"WHAT DO EXPECT FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU.." [You didn't put in "YOU" after "DO". And the sentence sounds a bit awkward because of the repetition. Maybe "DOES ONE" is better]

Amboi, mentang-mentanglah aku ni "Gambang graduate", engko cuba nak hina aku ye. Takpe takpe... ni kira aku dapat pahala.

IN MALAY TARDITIONAL, WE ASK PERMISSION BEFOR TAKING ANYTHING UNLIKE YOU R BELOVED BOSS WHO LIKE TO COME FROM BEHIND, HE IS NOT EVEN A MALAY, YOU KNOW..

Will you please check your spelling, punctuation and grammar before sending?...we have a certain standard to adhere to. Anyway, what "beloved boss" are you talking about here? I don't have any boss - work (self-employed) or political - although I do accept Nik Aziz as my leader. I'm in Kelantan, and he's my Menteri Besar...

Say, are you saying that I'm one of Anwar Ibrahim's followers? (Huh?..."he's not even a Malay??" Mana facts engko dapat ni? And your "masuk belakang" seems to imply the sodomy case. Haa, if this is NOT so, you have implicated yourself with a `fitnah' here, Parpu Kari).

Well, it's so, then you're 100% wrong. I *was* a staunch supporter from 1999 (unlike many of the current big mouths on high horses who were SILENT then and just came on board 11 months ago). Take note please - *WAS*... until circa November 2008.

Lastly, don't type EVERYTHING in CAPITAL LETTERS-lah; it's hard to read. And that includes at your blog too - I've been there just now. Yes, it's *your* blog but I'm giving you free tips here (and you should thank me; or even PAY me for this... unless you're a cheapskate)

You see, it may be your intention to STRESS, to indicate *importance* (note that asterisks work too) of something something. However, when the whole of it is in capital letters, it works the other way - people are turned off. Don't be surprised that maybe at least 50% of readers had read only a part of it, and then moved on.

Okay, since I had visited your blog, you'll have to return the favour by visiting one of mine: Mat Cendana's BLOG REVIEW Take note that it's the most authoritative blog review on the planet! "Says who?" Says ME...
