Many years ago, we were involved in organising our Alma Mater's anniversary.
Celcom CEO (then NTV7 CEO) Dato Shazali Ramli was involved in producing the dinner. First thing he asked was, what is our theme song. From there, he built the whole night's opening gambit, schedule, highlight and the late jam session closing.
M Nasir's 'Semerah Padi' made it a memorial 30th anniversary despite Pak Lah turning up 3 hours late at almost 11 pm. And our 40th is coming up.
'Stand by me' (with the video montage on Rocky Bru's here should be a cool theme song for Prime Minister, Dato Najib. As for the challenger, we should tell him to 'Selamat jalan, Romeo.'
The theme song's catchy lyrics below: When the night has come
Stand by Najib as wrote Big Dog here.
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me,
Oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Darlin', darlin', stand by me, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
For the challenger, the lyric of Ramlah Ram's 'Selamat Jalan Romeo' is hard to resist. It undeniably fit the person.Jangan... cuba... merayu lagi
Tak kan ku ulangi bertemu denganmu
Jangan... cuba... menggoda lagi
Tak kan ku ulangi bercinta denganmu
Manis mulut berbisa
Hampirku terpedaya
Kiniku menyedari
Engkau pandai berpura
Terpaksaku melupakan
Dirimu yang tak setia
(Korus)
Sungguhku tak menyangka
Ramainya wanita
Terperangkap olehmu
Cinta
Bagi dirimu
Tiada ubahnya
Bagai menukar baju
Cukup hanya sekali
Hatiku kau sakiti
Selamat jalan Romeo
Lebih baik kusendiri
