Mukhriz Letter: A Time For Honest Reevaluation II

Surat Mukhriz: Sudah Masa Untuk Penilaian Semula Yang Ikhlas II

Tsunami Kedua Sudah Bermula

Bahagian Batu Mengemukakan Petisyen Menuntut Pak Lah Meletakkan Jawatan

PETISYEN:

Keputusan Pilihan raya umum 2008 menyaksikan Barisan Nasional menerima kekalahan teruk.

a) Kenaikan harga petrol yang terlalu tinggi
b) Kenaikan tol yang sangat drastik,
c) Kenaikan kadar faedah asas (BLR),
d) kenaikan kos sara hidup - elektrik, cukai pintu dan air.
e) Kenaikan harga barang

2. Dasar Luar yang mengelirukan dan pro-Singapura seperti:

a) Mengakui Tambak Johor sebagai hak bersama Malaysia-Singapura tanpa kira sempadan, tanpa mendapat keputusan Mahkamah Antarabangsa.
b) Membatalkan pembinaan jambatan bengkok kerana ugutan Singapura
c) Masih gagal menyelesaikan isu harga air mentah ke Singapura
d) Gagal memimpin OIC

3. Promosi Islam Hadhari yang keterlaluan:

a) Membimbangkan masyarakat bukan Islam.

1. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi meletak jawatan secara sukarela sebagai Perdana Menteri dan Presiden UMNO.

ATAU

2. Sekiranya, Datuk Seri Abdullah dan Ahli Majlis Tertinggi UMNO berpendapat Presiden parti masih mendapat sokongan ahli UMNO, maka sewajarnya, satu Perhimpunan Agung Khas UMNO dipanggil dan satu undi sulit mengenai kedudukan Presiden UMNO diadakan.

Sekian, terima kasih.

UMNO: A Time For Honest Reevaluation I

Those who never learned from history are doomed.
This is a time for drastic action and measures. It is a time for honest and sincere opinion. It is time for a no hlods barred reevaluation. For those purposes, I will be writing a series of personal opinion, articles and news cutting relevent for UMNO to reevaluate its situation.

UMNO, specifically the UMNO President cum Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, made a cardinal mistake of refusing to acknowledge information. From very reliable insider sources, Abdullah would get into a state of denial and even tantrum whenever any intelligence or ground report stating Khairy as factor.

Abdullah was too engrossed in building his family dynasty that he refused to acknowledge that early poll is a mistake. He refused advise that the timing is wrong and effort must be done to adress the problems.

Having deceived the UMNO MKT to extend party election for the wimsical reason to focus on implementation of RMK9, he wanted to use an early poll to place in Parliament those allied to him and Khairy. After General Election, his plan is to do a major party purge from ground zero up through the party election and it is widely believed to place Khairy as heir to the "premiership throne".

During the General Election, cah keting was not just confined to Kelantan but happening everywhere, for various reasons - rivalry ranging from within the internal division, and macro party level. That has caused a double effect of backstabbing and money and resourced were saved for the party election, which is to begin after the General Election. UMNO was not "fighting" the Opposition but fighting within itself.

All along, Abdullah could have been mislead to believe that everything is fine and to focus on his chess game. Unfortunately, not only are party members disgruntled with the way UMNO is heading, the economic, security, sovereinty, media, ethnic and religious and many other issues are brewing among the people. this was compunded by the demonstratiosn and handling of the demonstrations.

Lets refer to this news report from Singapore's Straits Times dated March 13th, 2008:

BN 'MADE BIG MISTAKE WITH EARLY POLLS AND MEDIA ATTACKS ON ANWAR'

Both strategies backfired and helped Anwar gain support for opposition: Experts

By Zackaria Abdul Rahim, THE STRAITS TIMES

THE ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition might have been able to prevent its election disaster had it let former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim run, a panel of experts in Singapore said yesterday.

Holding elections early allowed the charismatic opposition leader to roam round the country stumping for the opposition instead of being tied down to campaigning for himself in one constituency, they said.

That 'fundamentally flawed strategy' contributed to the big swing against the BN at the polls, concluded the panel at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University.

After his imprisonment for corruption, Datuk Seri Anwar was barred from holding public office until April 15. Thus he was free to campaign anywhere; he even gave a speech at a financial conference in Singapore last Wednesday, just days before the election.

The visit gave the government more fodder for the anti-Anwar campaign it conducted in the country's pro-government newspapers.

'Perhaps, for the Malay Muslim electorate, a certain sensitivity has been touched because this was a man who had been put in jail, beaten up by the IGP (Inspector-General of Police) of Malaysia,' said Dr Farish Noor, Senior Fellow at RSIS. 'He had been demonised in the media, and then there was this unrelenting attack on Anwar Ibrahim for four days.'

Voters in Kelantan and Terengganu receive only Berita Harian and Utusan newspapers, he noted.

'And the attacks in Utusan and Berita Harian took up half the contents of each paper,' he said.

'When you heap this relentless barrage of abuse on Anwar Ibrahim, without giving him a chance to even reply, the sympathy simply swung in his favour.'

Other members of the panel, chaired by Associate Professor Joseph Liow, RSIS' head of research, were: Professor Shamsul A.B., founding director of the Institute of Ethnic Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; RSIS' senior fellow, Mr Yang Razali Kassim; and Ms Jacqueline Ann Surin, former Sun journalist and founder of the website malaysiavotes.com..

On the part of Anwar, I would like to differ but would agree that it was over done. Anwar was not a significant factor but the manner the GE was scheduled and overkill towards Anwar has made him a factor.

BN has the necessary tools to end Anwar's popularity but refused to use it. On this aspect, I will be consistent with my position that all along Anwar had an understanding with Abdullah. In fact, I strongly believed that Abdullah had manipulated the judge to release him. But that is another story ... the issue is Abdullah did not handled Anwar factor wisely and made it into a factor.

Another move that contributed to the BN's massive losses, said Dr Farish, was the decision to scrap the use of indelible ink, which had been aimed at curbing people from voting more than once.

'This immediately sent out a very clear message to a lot of the supporters of PAS (Parti Islam SeMalaysia) and the opposition in particular that there is going to be massive vote-rigging, so you better go out and vote,' he said. 'Perhaps, it made the pro-government supporters a bit more lax.'.

I agree with this argument. The cancellation of the use of indelible ink at the 10th hour was bad timing.

Personally, I have heard of BN party workers making statement "ini adalah operasi lah" signifying that it did not go well with party members too, who mostly wanted send a message to Abdullah to spoilt the votes.

It is bad taste to cancel when the Government claimed it met three out four of the demand made by BERSIH demonstrators in November.

The presence of Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi's son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin on the campaign circuit may have also backfired.

Dr Farish said that Mr Khairy, as the Umno deputy Youth chief, is projected as a role model for young Malaysians, but he really epitomises the gap between 'rich and poor' families.

'(So), some of the PAS leaders were quite happy when Khairy came to Kelantan,' he explained.

Read my earlier posting Khairy ... His Numbered Days.

Thus, the panel yesterday agreed, the combined anger of not just the Chinese and Indians, but also the Malays, hurt the BN.

'It is quite clear it is the Malay backlash that pulled down the BN,' said Prof Shamsul.

He added that while Chinese voters are touchy about language, culture and education, Malay voters are protective of morality and Islam.

In my opinion, Abdullah's poor communicative skill and inability to restrain his cabinet members and handle the situation is the main reason that the language, culture and education including religous issue became a problem to BN. For all likelihood, Abdullah refused to acknowledge there was a problem.

'It is quite interesting that the Malays have decided that the BN is not good morally and it doesn't look after Islam, and that's why we don't want you,' he said.

Dr Farish said that the Malay Muslim electorate has rejected the concept of Islam Hadhari promoted by Datuk Seri Abdullah in 2004.

He said that ordinary Malays see Islam Hadhari as building a 'RM250 million (S$109 million) Islamic theme park', - an allusion to the extravagant Crystal Mosque in Terengganu.

He showed a photo of a poster put up by PAS outside the mosque, which read: 'Never before this has a RM250 million mosque been built only for tourists. This is Islam Hadhari.'

Another poster reminded the electorate that Umno had destroyed mosques in the past.

Dr Farish interpreted the voters' thoughts as: 'Why should we build a mosque just to attract tourists. We want it for us.'

Yet another poster, with the tagline of Islam Hadhari, highlighted the social ills that have plagued Malaysia's Malays: Mat Rempit (biker gang), teenage couples holding hands, gangsterism in school, alcohol consumption and smoking.

Islam Hadhari has been my crying call since 2005.

The root to the problem of Islam Hadhari and other policies of Abdullah is that it is mere propaganda and media spin without anything of substance to substantiate.

The problem of Abdullah has alwasy been about seliing a defective product by purely branding and rebranding other's product as his own.

Khairy ... His Numbered Days

Taken from Malaysia Today

Abdullah's fast rising son-in-law may abandon top party post

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 – Arrogant. A Racist. A Crony. The epitome of what’s wrong with Malaysian politics. A Malay ultra. The power behind the throne. Too ambitious. Too cocky. Too much in a hurry. Too interfering. Too young. The hidden hand behind the missteps and colossal collapse of Barisan Nasional at the election.

Add all of these together and you still would not complete the list of how Malaysians perceive Khairy Jamaludin, the deputy chief of Umno Youth, MP for Rembau and the son-in-law of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Thanks to wall-to-wall coverage of him over the past three years in the alternative media and a catalogue of own goals, he has emerged as probably the most disliked person in Malaysia today and the person most likely to have to take the fall for BN’s showing in Election 2008.

The Malaysian Insider understands that Khairy – who until recently was being touted as the next Umno Youth chief and a future minister – could be looking at giving up his position in the youth movement, signaling probably the end of a meaningful political career for the country’s fastest rising star.

In the days after the Opposition took control of five states and denied the ruling coalition its traditional two-thirds majority in Parliament, the knives were being sharpened for the back of the Oxford-educated economist. An Umno division chief, who requested anonymity, said: “The view on the ground among Umno members is that Khairy played a pivotal role in drawing up the list of election candidates. They believe he was trying to be a kingmaker. That is why many candidates were rejected by the divisions and even our own Umno members.

“There is a great deal of anger against him and the PM.

“I think that the feeling of frustration against the PM will only die down if Khairy steps down as Umno Youth deputy chief.’’

If this happens, it will be the end of a career that once seemed destined for the apex of Malaysian politics.

The son of a diplomat, Khairy started becoming noticed after he became special assistant to Abdullah when the latter was the Deputy Prime Minister. He and other aides to Abdullah were instrumental in drawing up the reform agenda that ushered in Abdullah’s term as Prime Minister in November 2003.

They believed that Abdullah had to capture the imagination of a Malaysian public that had become tired of the confrontational politics of the Mahathir era.

The positive results of the March 2004 election bolstered Khairy’s confidence and image, with some politicians already talking about his potential. Even he seemed caught up with his new aura of power and seemed ready to push the envelope with civil servants and party apparatchiks in Abdullah’s office.

By the end of 2004, the word in power circles was that if you wanted to see the PM or influence policy, you had to meet Khairy first.

Most of this was hyperbole but in this country, perception is 99%. With his rising influence came enemies.

The older Umno politicians were unhappy with a young man who spoke so confidently, sometimes out of turn. What they did not realise was he was not a product of Malaysian education, having studied in boarding school and United World College in Singapore before leaving for Oxford.

The Umno operators in the PM’s office felt threatened by his growing influence and labelled him an enemy. By 2005, Khairy left the office, sensing that he had become a burden to Abdullah. He told friends that he could not work effectively as a senior aide to the PM because of all the talk about him being the son-in-law and being the real power behind the PM.

But instead of taking a lower profile, he soon started climbing up the political ladder in Umno, culminating with him being unchallenged for the deputy chief position in the youth wing. In corporate circles, he earned the tag of a fixer, someone who could help obtain approvals for big-ticket projects.

Those who know him from his school days say he seemed to become more of a Malay nationalist as he rose up the ranks in Umno.

In a way, this is what happens to anyone who joins the party – they have to conform to an ethos and value system. The more he took on the persona of an ultra, the more he was viewed as acceptable by the rank and file in the party. In contrast, many non Malays started to have serious misgivings about him.

He spooked many when he defended the action of Umno Youth chief Hishammuddin Hussein to carry a keris at the opening of the party assembly. He also lost more fans when he claimed that the Chinese community in Malaysia would take advantage of the Malays if Umno were weak.

He seemed to have concluded that he needed the support of Umno more than he needed the support of Malaysians.

His supporters argue that he was doing what Mahathir Mohamad, Najib Tun Razak and Anwar Ibrahim had also done – played to the Malay gallery to rise to the top and then moderated their views once they reached their political goal.

But there was one major difference between then and now.

Now there is the Internet, SMS and other alternative media platforms, and any mistake can be amplified to every corner of the country. Bloggers and websites pulverised him and turned him into an ogre. Their views went largely unchallenged and Raja Petra Kamarudin’s Khairy Chronicles – despite its liberal mix of fact and fiction – became the defining profile of the young politician.

From Bukit Kayu Hitam to a speck of a town in Sarawak, people know all about the misadventures of Khairy. They do not know what he actually looks like, have not had any dealings with him but every one of them can yet recall a negative story about him.

The main thrust of their anger is that Khairy is a corrupt, power-hungry politician who was working the PM like a puppet master.

If he was allowed a free run to the top of the political office, it would be disastrous for Malaysia, they agreed.

Umno politicians told The Malaysian Insider that it was a myth that Khairy influenced policy or made decisions on behalf of the PM. For proof, just look to the return of the old brigade – Zainuddin Mydin, Aziz Shamsudin and Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor – which shows that Khairy had limited influence on important issues like the selection of candidates, they point out.

Says an Umno Supreme Council member: “The problem is that Khairy did not discourage the perception that he was all-powerful. It worked in his favour because it earned him the respect of the business community and Umno politicians.

“So now it is too late to say that he has nothing to do with the selection of candidates or the election strategy. Party members want someone to take responsibility for the election. That is the nature of Umno politics. If it is not Khairy, it will have to be Pak Lah.’’

Khairy knows this fact and that is why he will need to step down before the branches and divisions begin their meetings in May. Otherwise, they will hammer his father-in-law, and that is a price the son-in-law is not willing to pay.

Blogger Susan Loone Accused Mukhriz Cheating

Mukhriz gentlemenly acknowledging his opponent Idris Ahmad (PAS)

Susan Loone received an e-mail and without much checking and thinking, she tried to create doubt over Mukhriz's election victory in Jerlun. She claimed that an e-mail sent to her highlighted some strange almost perfect turnout of 99.85% published in the newspaper and SPR website.

Although she titled her posting with a questionmark as "Mukriz Mahathir cheated in elections?", she had no quarms to quote the full e-mail with the conclusion "See what a blatant cheater Mukhriz Mahathir is !!." without any qualification

That can be inferred as an intention to accuse and sway her commentator, as evidenced in her posting, into a negative perception of Mukhriz. Her dramatic stunt received attention in Malaysia Today.

One comentator in Rocky Bru demanded she apologise for her wrongful "accusation". She updated her blog but has yet to do so. Lets just see whether she would honourably apologise or she would conjure up excuses and do doublespeak to wiggle her way out of an apology.

Well, Susan Loone has a history of being dramatic in her blogging and was called drama queen by the blogging community. She dramatised the Altantunya case with all sorts of wild unsubstantiated accusation but cease when court proceeding began. This lead some to believe that she couldn't do her spin when fact are presented.

She claimed of being non-partisan but was later revealed by sources inside the Parti Keadilan office that she wanted to stand but was not put forward. Liar liar pants on fire.

She wanted to push her political agenda on All Blog during the Ijok by election. When her request was not met, she attempted to established a breakaway bloggers association. Whatever happened to that association to compete with Rocky and Jeff Ooi's?

Whanever she is caught lying, she will never acknowledge and the possibility of apologizing is remote.

This allegation on Mukhriz is but another typical dramatic stunt of hers - expressing her ill intention by wrongful "accusation" based on spin and half truth. Worse still, she made no attempt to verify the suspicious number.

Despite highlighted by her commentators, she remain recalcitrant from admitting the typographical error. This is another proof of her ill intention. The newspaper sourced the erroneous information from SPR, thus explaining the same numbers in the newspaper and SPR website.

The SPR reported the total registered voter for Jerlun P005 is 45,513. Mukhriz (BN) received 19,424 votes and Idris Ahmad (PAS) is 17,219. Adding the spoilt vote of 599 votes, the turnout is 37,242. The SPR recorded the same turnout of 37,242, thus it tallies.

For the benefit of Susan Loone, the calculation of percentage turnout is derived by dividing the total turnout by total registered voter and multiplied by 100%. Since she lack the Mathematical prowess to spot inconsistencies, I have taken the trouble to derive it for her. The percentage turnout is 81.83% and not the published 99,85%. If she wish to dispute all the numbers that I presented, then I provide below a video of the official announcement:

For the benefit of Susan Loone, who was denied opportunity to experiance an election by Dato Kamarul's office, the SPR cannot make announcement before getting clearance from SPR headquarter in Kuala Lumpur. Opps ... this blogger used to have business discussion at Dato Kamarul's Taman Samudera property development office in Gombak.

Since Susan Loone loves conspiracy, I'll cook one up for her. Now, it's known fact that Mukhriz was sent to Jerlun to get slaughtered after being denied a comfortable place in Pulau Langkawi.

Mukhriz would likely to face sabotage from KJ's Pemuda kaki and the incumbent. It wouldn't be a surprise if KJ had sent some money men and goons to steer away voters to PAS. I would believe some laced tetra-packed soya drink that can hospitalised 60 campaign workers with food poisoning would be just the perfect abruption. After all, a resounding victory would make him look good and KJ bad (his campaigning was not doing well in Rembau).

Assuming KJ had SPR people inside in their pocket, wouldn't they be making Mukhriz lose and not have a better majority? Mukhriz's majority was 2,205 votes compared to the earlier majority of 2,142 votes.

How did I come up with such conspiracy theory? Just like I come up with the information that Dato Kamarul's office rejected Susan Loone as candidate for 1999 general election. Nah, I'm just giving room for Susan Loone to spin an answer.

But Susan Loone, Mukhriz's sister asked, Who's cheating?

Tuntut Pak Lah Letak Jawatan! UNDUR LAH!

Saya menerima SMS di bawah ini:

Asm. wbt. Sdr. Sekelian.

Pak Lah, Khairy, Kalimullah, Patrick Lim, Tingkat 4 .... mesti dilucutkan kuasa!
