In Ong Tee Keat, a new Pak Lah is found

Just a pre-emptive reminder, Dato Seri Minister, that there is someone observing you

When Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat responded to Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib's refusal to the Labu LCCT proposal by saying Government as yet to make a decision and is still reviewing the proposal, he gave the impression that he dare to be vocal.

In the last MCA Annual General Meeting, he gave the same impression with his strong words on UMNO and tried to potray a more assertive MCA.

But his comments yesterday proves he could be another Pak Lah, who was proned to express his opinion with jumbled up fact and analysis.

In Pak Lah's case, it is well known he does not read thoroughly reports presented to him, over relied on his conniving advisors, and decide on the last advise able to incite on his emotion of the moment.

More will be unraveled of Ong as we zero our eyes on him. By the look of things, he is a potential clown that speaks without proper grasp of fact and figures.

In the wake of greedy bastard Tony Fernandez hardball game to hold back the estimated RM150 million outstanding airport charges from Malaysia Airport (MAHB) and pressing for free landing and parking charges on an already 'cheapest in town rates', this potential weakness of the Minister of Transport may cost Government billions in unnecessary subsidies and discounts in favour of private interest.

Yesterday, Ong was trying to express a fresh air of confidence when Government announced a 50% discount of landing charges. He touched about the planned RM2 billion new LCCT to be built by MAHB, which when ready in 2011 will increase passenger capacity to 30 million.

He was reported by The Star, his party's controlled newspaper, saying the expected passenger load by then would be more than 20 million. That means the optimum level of operation in 2011, if it ever reached those figure, will be an excess capacity of 10 million or 67% capacity utilisation.

This economic depression will at best turn around in three years time, 2011 but if the western developed nation is not willing to swallow the bitter pill to undertake necessary financial reform, it might take five years. Does Ong understand what he is saying?

The bigger laugh is when he tried to describe the situation the present LCCT would not be able to handle the growing passenger load. He said, "This is crucial because by 2011, we anticipate the delivery of bigger aircraft, including the Airbus A380 by Malaysia Airlines.

One may give the excuse of him being confused between Airbus Model A 380 and Model A320 ordered by the lorry load, figuratively speaking, by Air Asia. But when he associate the Airbus A380 with Malaysia Airlines, he is right. It shows he didn't understand what he was talking about.

My dear Minister, MAS's Airbus A380 is a gargantum of an aircraft thats able to carry some 525 passengers at one go. The world must be thinking we are nut to use the LCCT for the A380.

MAS is a legacy Airline operator that provide services with all the frills. The sheer size of the A 380 would mean the extensive use of mechanical baggage handling, at least 8 passenger counters, aerobridges, resurfaced apron, redesign taxiways, and many gadgets for the LCCT that will lead Tony to yell "High cost! High cost! High cost!" in his sleep.

In one landing, A 380 can jammed up the LCCT each time a full load of 500 take off and lands. It requires a dedicated new extension terminal at KLIA with the facilities that can absorb that load.
Ong announced the allocation for RM250 million for an extension of Penang International Airport. What RM250 million! Why are we trying to up Lim Guan Eng's conniving trick for RM150 million new LCCT for Penang?

Thank God, we have a potential clown to pick on in Najib's new cabinet, without Pak Lah around.

The said report below:

Ong: New LCCT to handle excess passenger load by 2011

THE passenger load at the KL International Airport will exceed 20 million by 2011 and the new Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) will cater to this increasing capacity, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

He said the design capacity for the new LCCT would be around 30 million but the entire project would consist of various phases, which would allow room for further development.

“This is crucial because by 2011, we anticipate the delivery of bigger aircraft, including the Airbus A380 by Malaysia Airlines,” he said, adding that the present LCCT would not be able to handle the growing passenger load.

Ong said the new LCCT would be ready by 2011 and the total cost was estimated at RM2bil.

He said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd would announce the financial details, which were still being ironed out.

On the rebate of 50% on landing charges which would be given from April 1 to all airlines that operate from Malaysia, Ong said he was optimistic that the move would boost the aviation industry and attract more airlines to use KLIA as a regional hub.

On whether such a move would affect Malaysia Airports financially, he said: “When you want to enjoy such incentives, you will certainly have to strike a balance.

“You need to woo more airlines to come and there will be some degree of reduction in your revenue.”

Currently, he said, there are 57 airlines operating from both LCCT and KLIA.

Ong, who is also MCA president, said he was impressed with the government-linked companies’ (GLCs) commitment to enhance corporate social activities in human capital development by establishing 10 non-profit private schools.

He said GLCs, which also operated private universities such as Uniten and MMU, were not only helping youngsters study at higher education institutions but were also making corporate social responsibility a culture in the country.

In another development, all parties have welcomed the estimated RM250mil allocated for the Penang International Airport expansion.

State MCA deputy chairman Eng Hiap Boon said the allocation would boost Penang’s economy by attracting more tourists.

“With the upgrading of airport facilities, I hope we can attract (more) tourists to Penang.

“This also shows the Federal Government has not given up on Penang.”

Take notice of Tony Greedy Bastard unsatiable appetite despite Government announcement of 50% discount on Airport landing charges and AirAsia passengers are already benefitting from an already 50% subsidised Airport charges.

AirAsia boss happy with promise of new LCCT

AIRASIA chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes is a happy man with the confirmation that a new low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) will be built by 2011.

He feels it is a step forward.

We hope MAHB will still do more

on its part

- DATUK SERI TONY "GREEDY

BASTARD" FERNANDES

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced in the mini-budget that Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) would build and operate a new LCCT at the KL International Airport at an estimated cost of RM2bil.

“It’s a good step, but we hope MAHB will still do more on its part.

“We can’t rest on the airlines and the Government to do all the work,” Fernandes said yesterday.

He added that he hoped MAHB would impose fair charges commensurate with the RM2bil investment.

Asked if AirAsia had been affected by the economic crisis, he said, “No”.

“On the contrary, we’ve been having good growth. We’re taking a positive stand on this and reducing our cost structure.

“Value is key for our customers and what we’re doing is giving them better value and lower fares,” he said.

Asked if he thought the measures announced in the mini-budget would help AirAsia, he replied: “What the Government has done, it’s good.

“Now we have to ask MAHB to play its part in lowering the cost structure for the consumers as well. They should also give incentives for all airlines to promote growth.”

Fernandes added that he had no plans to lay off workers. Instead, he was hiring more people.
Worth noting is that despite the discount that promotes LCC, Air Asia witheld some RM150million of customers paid airport charges.

MAHB is owned by Khazanah, in turn is owned by Government and indirectly the people. If he continue to default on his payment, sqeezing PNMB to pay for his expenses, and continue with his cheap stunt, yet come up with all sort of accusation and claims, as rakyat, our request is to bar Air Asia from using the KLIA airport services till he pays up.

The Greedy Bastard is actually a running a company with a Business Plan. That's the reason he is trying to squeeze money here and there like a Mamak shop operator!

I have been waiting for an article on this guy for awhile. He quite recently mentioned that vehicles from Singapore and Thailand are exempted from the rear seatbelt ruling.
This is his first most ridiculous directive. If the REAR SEATBELT law is meant for the safety of road users in this country for GOODNESS sake, can you please not be so STUPID as to give exemption to foreign vehicles.
I admired you, Ong Tee Keat for you high impact speeches when you were the Youth Chief of MCA.I honestly taught you are of substance and intelligence but when you came to POWER and hence became the Transport minister, you have been fumbling like crazy. You even supported a ridiculous bunch of people who owes the treasury and government so much money to built an airport so near to KLIA. You probably agree to them not having to pay MAHB for all the utilities and facilities used by them .They claimed to be successful yet complained of poor services by the airport in their own country whom in a very big way helped them to achieve the "Success"they claimed.

I don't see OTK saying that the A380 will land in LCCT. He was referring to the need for the country to have better airport facilities (not necessarily at LCCT) to prepare for increased passengers.

Temuljin,

before u can impose the rear seat belt ruling on foreign vehicles, one must make sure that the vehicles from Thailand are equipped with the safety feature. If not, it would be unfair for vehicles from Thailand. We must give them time to do so.

Can you imagine if Singapore impose a rule where babies must be strapped to baby seats? And all cars, including those from Malaysia, must use them? That wouldn't be fair on Malaysians as we do not practice that in Malaysia yet.

You want to know why Minister Ong is backing Air Asia? Check out one of Air Asia's director, Mr. Fam Lee Ee.. who was he when Datuk Ong was the MCA youth chief... The role he played during the AGM fracas... Is he somebody's proxy or is it a reward?

Anonymous said...

OTK should be renamed as Minister for Air Asia.

Temuljin said...

Dear Kumhor,
All vehicles should by now regardless where they come from already has rear seatbelts. For your information, most of imported vehicles on our roads ARE made or assembled in Thailand.
In Singapore, if there are rules you mentioned,do you think they will exempt vehicles from Malaysia or Thailand...Very unlikely.
Please do not take empathy as an excuse. Safety is for all and should be enforced to all.We must be affirmative or else stop being unfairly partial.
